Aerobic Gymnastics World Championship

The World Championship for aerobic gymnastics is the Aerobic Gymnastics World Championship. It was a recognized sport aerobic with new competitive gymnastics discipline, organized by the Federation Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG) in 1995, in Paris, France.

It was held annually from 1995 until 2000, then every two years since 2002. Aerobic Gymnastics was introduced into the World Games in 1997. The World Games 1997 was held in Lahti, Finland and featured athletes from different countries like Russia, Bulgaria, Australia, and USA.

Subsequently, this sport was featured in the World Games 2001 in Japan, World Games 2005 in Germany, World Games 2009 in Taiwan, World Games 2013 in Colombia, World Games 2017 in Poland, World Games 2022 in the USA, and World Games 2025 in China.

Performing aerobic gymnastics is by having the ability to execute constant and high intensity movement patterns along to the sound of music. It was originated from the traditional aerobic classes.

Aside from jumping jacks, high kicks and push-ups that are present in an aerobic class, a simplified competition was created and held for the first time in the US in 1985. It was then followed by other countries like Brazil, Japan and Canada that started to organize national and international aerobic competition.
The gymnast of aerobic gymnastics must have the routine on a continuous manner mixed with coordination, strength and flexibility, with knowledge of traditional aerobic movements.

Lifts and interactions for team categories must be combined with perfect execution of the difficult elements. There are four disciplines for the aerobic gymnastics – mixed pairs, trios, groups, and Aerobic Dance.

Athletes and teams at the World Games compete in four different squad sizes alongside two, three, five or eight athletes. The last of these four squad sizes is the Aerobic Dance. This is an aerobic routine performed to music for up to 90 seconds.

Aerobic gymnastics is one of the sports that featured in the 2025 Chengdu World Games. The four events in this sport included Mixed Pairs, Group, Aerobic Dance, and Trio. Here are the medalists who won gold at the end of each event:
