Commonwealth Games Mascot: Glasgow, 2014

The mascot for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow was Clyde the Thistle man. Clyde is named after the host city's famous river, the River Clyde which runs through the center of Glasgow and flows into the Firth of Clyde.

The mascot design was chosen from more than 4000 entries in a UK-wide competition, won by 12-year-old Beth Gilmour from Cumbernauld. Her drawing was then brought to life by digital agency Nerv.

The mascot was so popular, that there was a push to make Clyde the official mascot of the City of Glasgow.

Clyde was also named as the official mascot for Team Scotland at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
