Tetbury Woolsack Races

The Tetbury Woolsack Races are held along Gumstool Hill (an extremely steep street) in Tetbury, Gloucestershire.

The competition requires each competitor to carry a full woolsack on their back and race either up (individuals), or up and down the hill (teams), between two public houses (pubs)- The Royal Oak (located at the bottom of the hill) and the Crown (at the top).

I am sure there are a few ales consumed at either of these pubs, maybe even before heading back down the hill.

The woolsack weight for men is 60 lb and 30 lb for women. There are also youth races and a children's class.
