Rauling - a New Sport

The new sport of Rauling was created by Dareon St. Amant from the USA in January 2024. The sport can be described as a mix of lacrosse and frisbee.

Equipment Required: lacrosse Helmets, shortened Lacrosse sticks, an 80-yard field, a hard spongeball.

Rauling is conducted on an 80-yard field, excluding end zones. Players utilize Lacrosse nets with modified handles for one-handed passing of a ball. The field is segmented into two sides, namely the Home side and the Away side. When a player is in possession of the ball on their designated side, they enjoy unrestricted movement. However, upon stepping onto the opposing team's side, a 3-step rule comes into effect. Players are required to pass the ball until a participant successfully navigates into the endzone with possession.

The game comprises three periods, each lasting 15 minutes. Penalties are categorized into Personal Penalties (PPs), encompassing infractions such as Tripping, Roughhousing, and Fighting, resulting in a two-minute bench penalty. Conversely, Field Penalties (FPs) include offenses like Holding, Pass interference, and offsides, incurring yard penalties ranging from a 5-yard loss to a 15-yard loss.

Twelve players, organized as 6v6, are present on the field at all times, with each team consisting of 15 players. Positioned in the middle of the field are two openings, analogous to benches in hockey. Players who complete their shift retreat to their respective openings, allowing replacements to seamlessly take their place.

The commencement of each match is determined by a coin flip, with the home team making a call while the coin is in mid-air. Subsequently, the ball is thrown across the field to the designated receiver, initiating the game.
