MatBall - a new sport

MatBall is a new sport invented by Cole Burdick, Elana Fitch, and Ava Parsons from the USA in 2022. It is sport in a matroom with aspects of Basketball and Hockey.

Equipment Required: Basket, Foam Ball, Tape

Sport Summary

Two teams of 5 people on each team. The game goes to 11 points or 21 points. Score points by getting the foam ball into the basket. 1 point inside the crease, 2 points outside the crease, and 3 points behind half.

Sport Description

No tackling or physical interaction. Game to 21 or 11 points. 2 teams of 5 people on each team. Penalties given to anyone who tackles or pushes someone, if someone crosses the midline other than the midfielder. Basketball rules and game starts with a jump ball. Can strip the ball away from others. Have to play on your knees. Offense stays on the opposite side of the court and can only shoot and pass, midfielders can move throughout the court and can pass, shoot, and strip the ball, and defense needs to stay on their side of the court and guard the basket, however, they cannot shoot. They can only pass and strip the ball.
