Longsword Fencing - a New Sport
The new sport of Longsword Fencing (Dueling) was submitted by Chad Herbert from Canada, though the sport is based on fighting techniques of the Medieval Europeans in the 1400's.
In this sport, the competitors wield blunt Longswords (Double-edged, 3 lbs, 48" long, 2-handed-grip swords), in a ring or square, wearing full padding for protection, and attempt to strike each other without being struck, in a series of quick engagements.
Equipment Required: Full specialty protections from head-to-toe. Some equipment is borrowed from fencing (helmet), Baseball (shin-guards), with much new specialized protection. Require steel or synthetic Longswords. A fairly large, open space with high-ceilings or outdoors.
