Crich - a New Sport
The new sport of Crich was created by Adam Farrell and Nick Noseworthy from Canada on March 15th, 2023. In this sport, you must hit a ball, and then touch an opposite wall with your bat before being tagged or thrown out.
Summary
There is a hitter and batter box, where a pitcher throws a pitch at the hitter. The hitter may hit it or get striked out in 5 strikes. If the ball is put in play the pitcher must grab it and throw out the hitter, or tag them. You can score a home run ombudsman hitting the wall you are supposed to touch with the ball before it hits the floor. Once a batter touches the wall the pitcher may throw the ball at the hitters pants, the pitcher can not move once they grab the ball, and the hitter cannot move to dodge the throw. If they miss and the hitter was not tagged out a score is added of 1 to the hitter total. They then switch positions. There is innings and half innings like other sports.
Equipment Required: A bat (or something resembelling a bat that both sides agree to)
and a ball (must be a sphere, and both teams must agree on which ball to use)
Details

- Batter must use some kind of bat, or object resembling a bat. The target size should be a baseball bat.
- Either player, or team may object to the other's choice of equipment, upon which time both sides may agree on a resolution, or outside opinions may be collected, the decision will come from a simple majority.
- Catching a ball put in play before it touched the ground is an out.
- home runs must touch the wall the hitter must hit with their bat, and do so before touching the ground, this results in one score, and a change in positions and half inning/inning.
- All points scored are scored for the team hitting, and not the team pitching.
- Game should be played in a space no more than 10 feet wide and no more than 20-40 feet long.
- 5 strikes is an out
- A strike must occur in one square, the parties must decide on the squares dividers; Strikes must land in front of pitcher.
- A square should be about 5-10 feet long, and 6-7 feet tall depending on size of the hitter.
- Behind pitcher, hit by ball, or outside of zone(ie. too high, or outside square) does not count as a strike, but is not counted as a ball or anything else of any kind.
- No reward for hit by pitcher, due to nature of the soft balls.
- 5 strikes results in a switch in batter and pitcher.
- Outside zone pitches must be agreed to by both players.
- Pitcher may not be belligerent with this right, or an outside party may offer their opinion, which will count as much as the opinion of either the pitcher or hitter
- Any hit is a ball in play.
- If many outside opinions are offered, a simple majority will decide the matter.
- No set pitch clock.
- No set number of innings. An inning is defined for this game as both players having one opportunity to hit, and pitch.
- The objective is to touch the opposite wall with a bat, or a home run. Doing so results in a score of 1 point.
- A pitcher may grab the ball and then tag the hitter, or throw the ball and hit the pitcher before they touch the wall with the bat.
- If the pitcher throws the ball while the hitter has not touched the wall, but the hitter touches the wall before the ball strikes them, then the throw by the pitcher is null.
- After the batter touches the wall the pitcher has an opportunity to throw the ball and hit the batter pants for an out.. anywhere on the pants or shoes counts as an out.
- If the throw hits, but the location is ambiguous(ie. Part of pants are concealed under a jacket or other article) both sides must agree on the outcome.
- The Batter may not abuse this rule, and in such cases outside opinions Amy be gathered, and a simple majority wins the ruling.
- The pitcher must throw the ball from where it is picked up.
- No outside force may interfere with the ball, for example to move it closer to the hitter.
- If the pitcher is to throw at the hitter while they have not hit the wall with the bat, then this rule, regarding a hit to the pants may not be applied.
- There is no points any out, be it strike out, tag out, or pants hit.
- A half inning is defined as each side getting one opportunity to hit or bat, but not both.
- 2 half innings makes one inning by definition.
- After any out, or point is scored the half inning/ inning has concluded. Then the hitter and pitcher must switch positions.
- Either team may substitute any player for any position at any time. Through this process strikes, and score will not change.
- Teams must have the same players, no one person may play on more than one team in the same game.
- The game requires there to always be someone marked as pitcher or hitter.
- If a hitter refuses to take to their square a pitcher may deliver a pitch, if following the previous rules the throw is labelled a pitch it will be counted as such.
- Under this rule 5 strikes will still result in an out and a switch of positions, and a change of the half inning/ inning.
- If a pitcher refuses to take their box, a hitter may request a different pitcher. If this is not granted, the hitter may consider the at bat over, no score is awarded for the at bat in this case. As well the half inning/ inning will still change.
- If upon the hitter's request to change the pitcher, the original pitcher takes takes their position, the hitter is not allowed to contest this love, and the game may resume.
- A pitcher box is defined as the approximate proportions of the hitters square on the exact other side of the space.
- A hitter may not be to close to the batter, both players, or both teams may agree upon a point the pitcher may not cross.
- A batter may not be to close to the hitter, both players, or both teams may agree upon a point the batter may not cross.
- A pitcher may not interfere with the ball after hitting it, doing so results in a interference call, at which point the positions and half inning/ inning will switch regardless of number of strikes.
- An outside party offering their opinion may not be biased towards either position, or team, and the players, or teams may agree to strike any opinion they wish.
- If for any reason both sides agree to the game being shortened in any way (ie. reduced number of pitches) then that is within the rules.
- both teams must agree when to end a game, or what goal is to be reached to end the game.
- Both of the previous rules regarding shortening, or ending a game, are Not subject to outside opinions, and require a unanimous decision.
- A team may concede at any point in the game regardless of score or strikes.
- A conceding team is always the losing team.
- A game end automatically after either team leads by ten exactly, or more points.
- A team may not refuse to end a game out of belligerence, in such cases an outside opinion may be gathered, and a simple majority will win the ruling.
- Games may be paused indefinitely, only if both teams agree unanimously, and may be restarted only if both teams agree unanimously.
- Upon restart the score will remain the same as before, as will the positions and inning, and half inning, but Strikes will Not remain the same as before, they will be reset to 0.
- The bat is what must touch the wall, any other object, or body part will not count as a score.
