Chucky - a New Sport
The new sport of Chucky was created by Dustin Hansen from Red Deer in 1991. Throw a tennis ball to each other and through a goal.
Equipment Required: Hockey glove and blocker,
Tennis ball,
Goal posts and paint lines.
Sport Details
- 2 teams of 8 players.
- The goal posts are 70 feet apart.
- Throw a tennis ball at each other. side arm or whatever works.
- The gloves and blockers must be NHL regulation or less.
- Each person on each team takes turns throwing a tennis ball trying to score on the opposite team.
- If a player catches the opposing teams throw he only has 3 seconds to throw back or pass to a teammate giving the teammate 3 seconds to throw. If this pass is incomplete, the ball is forfeited back to opposing team.
- Throwing the ball.. cannot pass the goal post line.
- The backstop behind the goal line is 15 feet. that's the allowance players have to throw at opposing team.
- Ball cannot be considered a goal unless below 4 feet. Ball can be bounced off ground as many times as desired.
- Grass on field must be 3 inches long minimum.
- If a player hits an opposing player above 4 ft causing injury, the injured player can elect to have the throwing player thrown from game and gets 2 free throws.
- No one can cross goal lines on either team, catching or throwing.
- The ball must make it past the secondary goal line 3 feet past the primary goal line where defending players stand and under 4 feet height to score.
- Every player on each team must throw before anyone can throw twice, the order doesn't matter.
- Highest score after 30 mins wins.
- In the event of a tie.. each team elects a player to dismiss per round until one team beats best of. (see NHL shootout rules)
