In British baseball, the ball is thrown underarm and it is called bowling; whereas in North American baseball, it is thrown overhand, sidearm, or underarm, and this is called pitching.

Eleven players can play British baseball but substitutions are not allowed, substitutions are allowed in North American version. In British baseball, there are two innings, in North American baseball there are nine innings.

The bases in the British version are designated by poles and not bats. The bat used has a flat striking surface; the North American version is round. In British baseball, the ball can be hit and scored off in any direction, in North American version; the ball has to be hit in the zone around the first base and third base.
