Temperature Ratings: scale for hot or cold

Like the RPE Scale, it is sometimes useful (usually for research) to record how someone is feeling. In thermoregulation studies, you are able to record the subjective feelings of temperature (hot and cold) using the following 5-point Likert scales.

Subjective Cold Rating Scale

Which of these words best describe how you feel right now?

  1. Not cold at all
  2. Slightly cold
  3. Moderately cold
  4. Very cold
  5. Extremely cold

Subjective Heat Rating Scale

Which of these words best describe how you feel right now?

  1. Not hot at all
  2. Slightly hot
  3. Moderately hot
  4. Very hot
  5. Extremely hot
