Olympic Poodle Clipping event, 1900

You may find online reference to an Olympic Poodle Clipping event in 1900. It was apparently a well-attended competition won by Avril Lafoule, a 37-year-old farmer's wife from the Auvergne region of France, who successfully clipped 17 poodles in the allotted two-hour time frame. Unfortunately the event was made up by Telegraph write Christopher Lyles for an article relating to the countdown to the Beijing Olympics. A clue was in the apparent date of the Olympic Poodle Clipping event was April 1, 1900.
