Yemen at the Olympics

Athletes from the Yemen region have competed at the Olympic Games since 1984. Prior to the unification of Yemen in 1990, the Yemen Arab Republic (North Yemen) participated in the 1984 and 1988 Games, and the Yemen Democratic Republic (South Yemen) participated at the 1988 Games. From 1992 onwards, there has been a (combined) Yemen team at all Games.

Three Yemenite athletes saw action in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games competing in athletics, judo and swimming. However, the three athletes failed to break the nation’s Olympic medal drought.
