Togo at the Olympics

The African nation Togo first ventured at the Summer Olympic Games in Munich in 1972 and the nation was active at every Olympic Games from then on except for 1976 to support the African boycott and 1980 to support the US-spearheaded boycott.

Togo’s medal drought at the Olympiad ended at the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympic Games when Benjamin Boukpeti took the bronze medal in the K1-kayak slalom event in canoeing.

In the just recently concluded Rio de Janeiro Games the nation sent five athletes to compete in three sports namely rowing, swimming and track and field.
