1956 European Cup
The UEFA Champions League is an annual football club competition played between the European national league champions and other top clubs from Europe. At the time it was called the European Champion Clubs' Cup (though commonly known as the "European Cup").
The 1956 competition was the inaugural tournament. The first final was played at Parc des Princes, Paris, France on June 13, 1956, between Stade de Reims and Real Madrid.
The match was won by Real Madrid, Spain. Real Madrid would go on to win the first five tournaments.
