Australia at Beijing 2022 WInter Olympics
The Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games ran from 4 to 20 February, 2022. Australia sent one of their largest teams, 44 athletes (23 females, 21 males).
Women made up 52.3% of the Australian Winter Olympic team for Beijing 2022, topping the Sochi 2014 figure of 51.7% as the highest female representation.
Australia won four medals at the Beijing Games, the country's best overall performance.
The best performance was a gold to Jakara Anthony in the freestyle skiing women's moguls. Silver went to Scotty James (Snowboarding men's half pipe) and Jaclyn Narracott (women's skeleton). Bronze went to Tess Coady in the snowboarding women's slopestyle.
Results
- Australia had a team in curling at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics for the very first time. Dean Hewitt and Tahli Gill finished with two wins out of their 9 matches, a record which does not show how close some of the games were. Their two wins were against the PyeongChang 2018 mixed doubles gold and silver medallists.
- A gold medal for Jakara Anthony in moguls and bronze for Tess Coady in snowboard slopestyle provided the most successful day in Australia's Winter Olympic history. Australia had never won more than one medal in a day of competition. Jakara Anthony's gold made it a total of six Winter Olympics gold medals for Australia.
- Australia's first medal in sliding sports was won by Jaclyn Narracott. She won silver in the women's skeleton event.
