Tennockey - a New Sport
The new sport of Tennockey was created by Reed Melancon, Jaxon Roppolo, Avery Green from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA, in December 2024. This sport involves hitting a pickle or wiffle ball around with a tool that can be a tennis racket or any circle or square shape racket into a big net. A square net is used that looks like a soccer goal, but it’s not a soccer goal.
Equipment: a pickle ball or a wiffle ball, tennis rackets, or things that are kind of like tennis rackets, a home jersey and a jersey.
At the beginning of the game there is a kickoff.
The maximum points you can get when the ball is hit in the net is two points. Just like football there will be an extra point that is worth one point, so the maximum amount of points you can get if you make the extra point per goal is three points.
I bet you’re wondering what happens if you had it out of bounds. If you hit it out of bounds, then wherever the ball was hit out of bounds, that’s where it will be placed on the exact same spot inbound.
Just like any other sport, there are flags. There are two flags, a white flag and a red flag. The white flag is for something that is just on accident like touching the ball with your hand on accident and a red flag is for like hitting someone in the face with a racket on purpose. The penalty for both flags results in an automatic turnover.
There are five divisions with 10 teams. The division names are the northern division, the southern division, the western division, and the eastern division, and also the prairie division. The prairie division is for the teams in the middle who are in the middle of north south east and west. Also, just like any other sport, there will be championships and tournaments. There will be top 10 rankings. These rankings will determine the top 10 who go to the championship and the tournament. And even y’all are too! Y’all get to choose what states who agreed to have a tennockey team are going to be in what divisions!
