North Pole Marathon - the world's coolest marathon

The North Pole Marathon is an extraordinary endurance event held every April, offering runners the unique opportunity to compete at the top of the world — quite literally. Billed as "the world's coolest marathon," the race lives up to its name, with participants braving extreme sub-zero temperatures, strong winds, and a shifting ice floe atop the frozen Arctic Ocean. Unlike traditional marathons on solid ground, runners here race across a floating ice sheet just a few meters thick in some places, with the chilly waters of the Arctic below.

The event is organized by Global Running Adventures, a company known for staging some of the most extreme and remote endurance races on Earth. In addition to the North Pole Marathon, they also host the Antarctic Ice Marathon, set at the southernmost continent, and the Volcano Marathon, held in the Atacama Desert of Chile near one of the world’s highest active volcanoes. These races attract adventurous athletes from around the globe looking to test their physical and mental limits in some of the planet’s harshest environments.
