African Countries at the Winter Olympic Games
Fifteen countries from Africa have attended the Winter Olympic Games at some time. The number increased in 2018, as Nigeria qualified several athletes for the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, and a Canadian born Eritrean skier competed in slalom events.
Here is a list in the order of when each African country first attended the Winter Olympics.

- Morocco (1968, 1984-1992, 2010-2014)
- Senegal (1984, 1992-1994, 2006-2010)
- Egypt (1984)
- Algeria (1992, 2006 and 2010)
- Eswatini (1992, then known as Swaziland)
- Kenya (1998-2006)
- Cameroon (2002)
- Ethiopia (2006-2010)
- Madagascar (2006)
- Ghana (2010, 2018)
- Togo (2014)
- Zimbabwe (2014)
- Nigeria (2018)
- Eritrea (2018)
The Future
We are sure to see more and more African nations sending athletes to the Winter Olympics. In 2018, Uganda had a snowboarder that was very close to qualifying, and he may make the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.
