Pesäpallo Demonstration Sport (1952)

Pesäpallo is a variation of baseball, sometimes called Finnish Baseball. The exhibition match was played at 6 p.m. on July 31st, 1952, staged in the Olympic Stadium. The match was between by two Finnish teams: the Finnish Baseball League and the Finnish Workers' Sports Federation.

Owing to time requirements the match lasted an hour only. For greater visibility against the green field the ball used was, exceptionally, white. Normally Finnish baseball is played on a sandy pitch. A running commentary of the match was given in Swedish, French and English.

The match drew a crowd of 19,309. The Finnish Baseball Federation won 8-4.

To enrich the program, displays by women's Finnish gymnastic teams provided additoinal entertainment.
