Maldives at the Commonwealth Games

The Republic of Maldives is situated in the Indian Ocean, some 670kms west-south-west of Sri Lanka. The Maldives entered the Commonwealth during 1982, and made their debut in the 1986 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh and have since attended every Games from 1986 until 2014.

At Glasgow 2014 they were represented by a team of 23 athletes in five sports. In 2016, the country left the commonwealth and did not compete in the 2018 Commonwealth Games. In 2020, the Maldives returned to its status as a Commonwealth republic, and will compete at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

They have never won a medal.
