Fiji at the Commonwealth Games
Fiji first entered the Commonwealth in 1970 and were re-admitted in 1997 after a ten year lapse. However, Fiji was again suspended from the Commonwealth on 1 September 2009. The Commonwealth has downgraded its suspension of Fiji, allowing it to compete at the Glasgow 2014 games.
Despite not always being members of the commonwealth of nations, Fiji have participated at most of the Commonwealth Games events held. Fiji competed at the 1938 Empire Games in London. They have missed the Games in 1990, 1994 and 2010 Games during times of suspension from the Commonwealth.

- After making a surprise debut at the 1938 Empire Games in London, Fiji returned in 1950 to win 1 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals.
- Fiji continues to provide tough competitors and won silver in the inaugural Rugby 7s in 1998 and again in 2002.
- Fiji successfully hosted the 2003 South Pacific Games in Suva with 20 nations taking part in 34 sports.
- Fiji has always surprised the world of sport with its population of outstanding athletic talent and enthusiasm for sport. In the early days it was athletics but more recently with Gold and bronze in Manchester, its Judo athletes have surprised many while its Rugby Seven's team continues to suceed.
- Fiji was honored to be one of two Pacific Island nations to host the 2002 Queen's Baton Relay.
